Nutrition Month 2018: #MariSciMaggulay

Marikina Science High School (MariSci) held its Nutrition Month Celebration culminating activity on Friday, July 27, 2018 at the MariSci campus.

In line with the 2018 Nutrition Month theme, “Ugaliing magtanimsapat na nutrisyon, aanihin,” MAPEH club and STEP organization led the said culminating activity.

DANCE EXERCISE

An hour-long dance exercise headed by MariSci Dance Company (MDC) started at 7AM.

JHS students, faculty, staff, and parents actively participated, forming lines on MariSci grounds.

Classes resumed until 11AM followed by lunch.

STILL-LIFE DRAWING

Participants were given _ hours to draw a basket of fruits at RM 213 of 7 – Bonifacio.

Contenders were restricted to use colored pencils and 1/8 illustration board only.

MAPEH club and STEP organization facilitated the said activity.

MY WELLNESS PLATE

At 9AM, 10 students per class went to Ylagan Hall to prepare their sections’ meals.

A vegetable that will be evident in My Wellness Plate was assigned to each grade level of JHS:

7 – Kalabasa

8 – Carrots

9 – Malunggay

10 – Ampalaya

11 – Talong

12 – Green Leafy

Two presenters of each class were given time to exhibit their entry for My Wellness Plate that includes breakfast, AM snack, lunch, PM snack, and dinner.

Judges spent checking all JHS Wellness Plates.

MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS SEMINAR

Mrs. Catherine Marcella, Guidance Counselor, conducted a Mental Health Awareness Seminar at Ylagan Hall at 12:20PM.

NUTRITION MONTH PROGRAM

Nutrition Month program began at 1:00 with masters of ceremony, Mr. Mark Anthony Victo and Gemmalyn Rodriguez.

Opening speech of Mrs. Jeanette Coroza, principal, was delivered.

NutriJingle and Mr. and Ms. Wellness Modelo judges were acknowledged by Mr. Arvin Lark Santiago, MAPEH coordinator.

Candidates were required to dress in white.

Afterwards, Grade 7 and Grade 9, respectively, performed their self-composed musical pieces following the Nutrition Month 2018 theme.
